Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in student learning outcomes at the experimental stage in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) class of SMP Negeri 2 Karawang Timur which used an audio-visual learning approach. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental methodology. The subjects of the study were grade VIII students. They were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group using audio-visual media and the control group using conventional techniques. The results of the data analysis showed that the learning outcomes of the two groups were significantly different. Students' understanding of the topic and involvement in the learning process were more successfully improved when the audio-visual paradigm was used. This suggests that the use of audio-visual materials to teach PAI can be a good way to make classes more dynamic and interesting.
