Abstract

Digital transformation has changed the paradigm of language education, including Arabic language learning, through the increasingly intensive use of technology to support the acquisition of qirā’ah, kalām, istimā’, and kitābah skills. Although technology offers great potential for improving engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes, its implementation in Arabic language learning still faces various challenges, particularly those related to the digital competency gap among teachers and institutional readiness. This study aims to analyze the level of technology use skills in Arabic language learning, identify the factors that influence it, and examine the real impact of technology integration on the quality of learning. The research uses a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study design in madrasah or Islamic boarding school environments. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of learning documents, then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques with triangulation of sources and techniques. The findings show significant variations in the technological competence of teachers and students, which directly impact the effectiveness of pedagogical strategies and learning outcomes. Targeted technology integration has been shown to improve student comprehension, vocabulary retention, and participation, while limitations in infrastructure, training, and sociocultural factors hinder the optimal use of technology. This study emphasizes the urgency of formulating a specific technology competency model for Arabic language educators and strengthening institutional support to ensure meaningful and sustainable technology integration in the digital age.
