PERAN BUDAYA LOKAL DALAM PENGUATAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DI MADRASAH

This study aims to analyze the role of local culture in strengthening the values of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in schools or madrasas, particularly in forming students’ religious and social character. This research employed a qualitative approach through literature study by reviewing journals, books, and documents related to the integration of local wisdom in PAI learning. The findings show that local cultural values such as the nyadran tradition, the commemoration of the Prophet’s birthday, Islamic arts, and school cultural habituation align significantly with Islamic values and are effective in reinforcing students’ religiosity, discipline, cooperation, and tolerance. The integration of local culture also makes learning more contextual and meaningful. However, challenges arise from digitalization, which shifts cultural values, and from limited teacher competence in applying culturally based learning. This study concludes that strengthening local culture in PAI needs to be carried out systematically through curriculum development, teacher training, and the use of digital media. This effort is expected to preserve cultural heritage while shaping students into religious and moderate individuals.
