KEADILAN SAHABAT DALAM PERDEBATAN: STUDI KOMPARATIF

Abstract

The concept of “kullu sahabah udul” is generally accepted by the majority of classical hadith scholars. However, critical views have emerged that question this generalization, arguing that not all Companions can automatically be considered just, given that they were still human beings capable of making mistakes. This study employs a library research approach using a comparative study methodology. The results indicate that during the formative period of Islamic jurisprudence (tasyri‘), the mistakes made by the Companions could still be understood as human errors, since it was precisely through these mistakes that the Prophet provided corrections which later became the basis for the establishment of legal rulings. Thus, the principle of “kullu ṣaḥābah ‘udūl” can be generally applied to the Companions.  Assessments at the individual level of the Companions require more precise research. The application of the concept of the Companions’ justice, both during the Prophet’s lifetime and afterward, still necessitates critical and comprehensive examination.
