Abstract

Character education serves as a fundamental foundation in shaping a child’s holistic personality by integrating intellectual, moral, and spiritual dimensions. In the Islamic perspective, children are born with inherent potential for goodness that must be nurtured through proper guidance and education aligned with their developmental stages. This paper discusses the importance of early character education through the integrated roles of family, school, and social environment. The family acts as the primary educational institution where essential values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, and empathy are instilled through example and habituation. Schools reinforce these values by integrating moral and religious principles into the learning process. Islam views character education as a process of moral formation aimed at preparing children to fulfill their roles as servants of God and stewards on earth. Therefore, education should not focus solely on intellectual achievement but must also emphasize continuous moral and spiritual development. By applying developmentally appropriate approaches, character education is expected to produce generations who possess noble character, integrity, social awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility in both personal and societal life.
