Kritik Tafsir Terminologis Musâ’id Al-Thayyâr: Landasan, Formulasi, Konsepsi, Parameter dan Aplikasinya

This article discusses the terminological criticism of tafsir, whose study is still not widely discussed. This can be observed by looking at the available literature on the topic of tafsir criticism which mostly focuses on the area of criticism of methods, sources, and tafsir products, developed by ‘Abd al-Wahhâb Fâyed and Ibrâhîm Khalîfah with the concept of al-Dakhîl fi al-Tafsîr, then ’Abdurrahmân bin Shâlih bin Sulaimân al-Dahsy with al-Aqwâl al-Syâdzdzah fi al-Tafsîr, then Ihsân al-Amin with Manhaj al-Naqd fi al-Tafsîr. As for terminological criticism of tafsir, it began to be discussed and developed by Musa'id al-Thayyâr with the concept of Tahrîr al-Mushthalahât fi al-Tafsîr. This research uses a qualitative approach, with a form of literature study and descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that in general, according to Musâ'id al-Thayyâr there are several terminologies and concepts in the study of the Qur'an and tafsir that have problematic gaps in definition, which have implications for overlapping or erroneous work areas and applications. These terminologies include: tafsîr, istinbâth, ta`wîl, tadabbur, mufassir, tafsîr bi al-ma`tsȗr, tafsîr bi al-isyârî, tafsîr maudlȗ'î, tafîr lughawî, and tafsîr ‘ilmî (i'jâz al-’ilmî). As for specifically, about the ideal form of tafsir of the Qur'an according to him is tafsîr lughawî (linguistic meaning) and tafsîr jumalî (global meaning), because apart from these two forms, usually out of the limits of the understanding of the tafsir itself.
