Abstract

The objective of this study is to discuss the concept of testing Al-Isnad material in Ilmu Ma’ani as an evaluation of literary competence. This research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method and is based on library research. The data analysis technique involves the stages of data inventory, data classification, and data interpretation. The results of the study reveal that the theory of literary competence can be used as an alternative theory for designing tests as evaluation and assessment instruments for Isnad material in Ilmu Ma’ani, which is a branch of  Balaghah. This is because Balaghah is closely related to the study of Arabic literary arts..
