AKIDAH ISLAM: SEBUAH TINJAUAN FILOSOFIS DAN ILMIAH

The discourse on Islamic theology, particularly aqidah (creed), has captivated both Muslim scholars and Western Orientalists. While some Western figures, such as Goethe and Washington Irving, praised Islam, others, like Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens, harshly criticized its theological aspects, particularly aqidah. They regard aqidah as dogmatic beliefs that are irrational and contradictory to science. This study aims to uncover the validity of Islamic aqidah from a scientific perspective and address fundamental questions: is Islamic aqidah empirical, or does it transcend human rationality? Through a comprehensive approach, this research seeks to demonstrate that Islamic aqidah is not solely based on belief but also possesses an intellectual foundation that supports the pursuit of knowledge and rationality.
