Bergerilya hingga Berkuasa: Sejarah Neo-NII Tahun 1962-2023

Abstract

This article aims to reveal the history of the new movement of the Negara Islam Indonesia(Neo-NII) from 1962 to 2023. Neo-NII is strongly suspected of having links with the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School in Indramayu, West Java.  This article was prepared using historical research methods using literature study and interview data collection techniques.  The results of the research show that the NII movement has undergone evolution even though NII definitively disbanded in 1962 along with the arrest of the High Imam of NII, Sekarmaji Marijan Kartosuwiryo.  Neo-NII split into two factions, namely Fillah and Fii Sabilillah.  Neo-NII adheres to a distinctive doctrine and has implications for the religious thought that adheres to it.  In contrast to the PKI, the NII movement seems to have been given room to move by the government of the Republic of Indonesia until finally it gave rise to a similar movement with a new variant which in this article is called Neo-NII.
