Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of longing (syauq) in the lyrics of “Kepada Noor” by Panji Sakti from an Islamic Sufism perspective. This research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical method using Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic theory. Data were collected from the song’s complete lyrics through verified sources. The findings reveal three dimensions of spiritual longing: longing as spiritual perseverance (maqam iradah) through the concept of tajalli; longing as a metaphysical journey parallel to suluk and musyahadah, where nature serves as a medium of divine signs; and longing as dhikr leading to fana’, where lyrical repetition structurally simulates Sufi ritual experience. This study concludes that “Kepada Noor” transcends romantic expression and functions as a spiritual narrative guiding listeners toward God. Future studies are encouraged to explore other contemporary songs through similar Sufi frameworks.
