Abstract

The purpose of thi study is to increase fifth-grade students at SDIT Harapan Umat Karawang’s comprehension of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) by using the Think Pair Share (TPS) Cooperative Learning methodology. The low level of students' comprehension of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) content, the lack of active student participation in the classroom, and the use of repetitive teaching strategies that quickly bore and distract students from their studies served as the driving forces behind this study. Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Suharsimi Arikunto model was the research methodology employed. It was conducted in two cycles, each of which included phases for preparation, execution, observation, and reflection. Twenty-three fifth-graders at SDIT Harapan Umat Karawang served as the research subjects. Observation, interviews, documentation, assessment forms, and cycle reflections were used as data gathering methods. The findings demonstrated that using the Think Pair Share (TPS) Cooperative Learning approach might boost students' engagement, curiosity, and comprehension of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) content. Students' enthusiasm in learning was 82% in the first cycle and 85% in the second, with an excellent category. Additionally, students seemed to be more engaged in conversations, responding to inquiries, and taking part in the educational process. In order to enhance students' comprehension of Islamic Religious Education, the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning paradigm may be a useful substitute.
